Into Extreme Sports? Myrtle Beach Will Host International Combat Challenge In November

Combat challenges are all the rage, and now Myrtle Beach has one. Don't have a clue? Think an extreme sport based on your job. Okay, if you're a desk jockey, maybe that's not too exciting.

But if you're a firefighter, wow. And that's what's coming to Myrtle Beach as the town's newest sporting event.

The “Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge World Challenge XIX” Is set for November 9 to November 13, 2010 at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, just a few blocks from the ocean. How exciting is this event? It's something that headlined in Las Vegas for 10 years. ESPN covered it for 12 years.  And now Myrtle Beach has it.

So think about building a vacation around it. Guaranteed, it will be different than any other you've experienced. In early November, Myrtle Beach has warm weather and cheap, off-season hotel rates. Golf courses are lush and greens fees low. And now the excitement of extreme sports.

ESPN calls this firefighter fitness competition one of the toughest in all of sports.

Think about it: The fittest firefighters from 7 countries decked out in 45 lbs of gear climbing a 5-story tower, hoisting, chopping, dragging hoses and rescuing a life-sized dummy victim.

You may even find that your home fire department is fielding a team. How cool would it be to come to Myrtle Beach and root for your home team?
