Like the sound of that?
Many vacations we take today seem to do a good job of moving us away physically from the office, but don't help at all when it comes to severing the invisible connection that keeps us linked to work mentally.
Let's face it. It's tough for our minds to break free, especially with all the mobile communication devices around now.
So, when we came across this phrase on the Web site of a Bed & Breakfast located in the laid-back coastal NC town of Carolina Beach, it - to use one of today's most overworked terms - resonated with us.
Don't get the wrong impression. This place isn't in some far off outpost with no WiFi or electricity. And, the B&B gives its guests a lot of info on activities in case they want to partake. Carolina Beach is overflowing with options, many of which are free. Historic Wilmington is just a short drive away and it's quite a bustling little city.
But isn't it nice to hear a place pitch, embrace the need to do nothing? Makes you feel relaxed just reading that phrase.
So, why not check it out? The Beacon House is an original 1950s boarding house transformed into a lovely B&C. There are also cottages that are pet friendly in case you can't bear to be separated from Fido or Boots. While there's mid-century charm, the comforts are modern day, so you get the feel of a simpler time without having to sacrifice today's pleasures. And, you can stay connected to the office if you feel you must.
The Beacon House offers very affordable packages of all sorts from ones that are spa-centric to girlfriends getaways to those with some romantic touches. And, with Mother's Day just around the corner, we couldn't help thinking that it's the perfect spot for Mom to have a quiet getaway. Or a little romance with Dad.
If you've never been to Carolina Beach, you'll be pleasantly surprised by this sparkling beach town's quiet display of all things active (surfing, boating, cycling etc.) while taking you a step back into simpler, less frantic times.
It's the perfect place to go if you ever feel the need to do nothing. . . and have the courage to embrace that feeling.
