Finish The Summer With A Bang and Join The Cult Of The Donut

Summer is almost over, so why not have one more fling and say goodbye to the season with some real fireworks?

Carolina Beach on the North Carolina coast has a few more long weekends left in its popular Film & Fireworks Series. And, they're full of free stuff.

Like concerts? They're free at Carolina Beach.

Thursday, August 26, Radio Flyer Band takes the stage, followed by a mind-blowing free fireworks display. Spend the rest of the long weekend laying on the beach, surfing or riding a bike around town.

Okay, it will cost a little to start each day with a Britt's donut. But this is a treat so good it has a cult following.

Get nostalgic for simpler days and stroll the boardwalk, play in the arcade, and then take in “Classic Night” with Frank Capra's Mr. Deeds Goes To Town on Sunday August 29 in Carolina Beach Park. It's like a drive-in movie without the car. And free.

When it's time for summer's swan song, Labor Day, ride the season out with a bang. Celebrate Labor Day weekend with free concerts on Thursday, September 2 by Mojo Collins, followed by free fireworks, and, on Friday, September 3, the Drew Smith Band. Top it off on Sunday, September 5 and watch the super animated film, Up, on the big screen in the great outdoors.

Of course, if the kids are already back in school and you only have two days to spare each weekend instead of four, you might have to skip the music and fireworks. Take the challenge and pack as much fun as you can into two days in Carolina Beach. And, when you take in a film under the stars on a Sunday with your honey, you can make your own fireworks.
